Yesterday, Microsoft unveiled some of its new products, including two new devices. One is a desktop computer, while the other is a revamped version of the Microsoft Surface Book . This latter device is called the Surface Book i7.
But many of us expected that the new Surface Pro 5 would also be presented, the Microsoft tablet that the world appreciates so much but unfortunately we have not seen any of it, not even something that confirms its next launch.
There is evidence of its existence, but Microsoft's neglect of its most prized hardware makes me think that Microsoft's interest is no longer in Surface Pro but rather in Surface Book , a device that should be better than Microsoft's tablet but is only becoming more expensive and less powerful.
The new Surface Book will be able to work like Surface Pro but not at the same price
Thus, the new Surface Book boasts triple the performance, double the power, and a cooling system that prevents the device from overheating or catching fire. However, it also comes with an astronomical price tag, approaching $3.000 , while the Surface Pro barely reaches $1.000. This may explain why Microsoft is placing so much emphasis on the Surface Book and not the Surface Pro. In any case, this could lead to a decline in the number of Windows 10 tablets , leaving only the Surface Book—a pricey option.
Windows 10 tablets offer more than just reading or watching videos; they allow us to work on the web or create documents , which has made them the device of the year for many. Of course, these tasks can be done better with the Surface Book, but it also costs more.
I hope yesterday's event isn't the beginning of the end for Surface tablets , however something tells me I'm wrong. What do you think?
