A few months ago, we saw some sneakers with an E-Ink screen built into their design that could be used as a text reader. It was a curious concept that attracted a lot of attention, but it turned out to be vaporware , meaning it will take a long time, if ever, to reach the market. However, the concept has caught on, and a young man named Jackson Dong has created sneakers that will indeed have an LCD screen on the outside for reading or watching movies.
These curious shoes are called Vixole Matrix , shoes that offer more than just a simple screen to the user and are already available through crowdfunding , which indicates that Vixole Matrix will not be just another vaporware.
The Vixole Matrix will be priced at approximately $245 , a high price but relatively low considering that the screen isn't the only striking feature of these shoes. In addition to the screen, they have Bluetooth connectivity, an accelerometer, GPS, a magnetometer, and a sound sensor . These sensors will make the Vixole Matrix more of a wearable device than an e-reader or a piece of clothing.
The shoe's battery has a capacity of 3.000 mAh , a very high capacity for what it offers, so its battery life is expected to be quite long. And all of this can be managed via a mobile app and Bluetooth connection.
Vixole Matrix is very eye-catching, but it's certainly far from the electronic ink sneakers that were recently announced , although there's no doubt that this model is real and will arrive in stores, or so it is hoped.
Even so, call me weird, but I prefer to keep reading on bus shelters or on my eReader, which is more convenient for me, even while waiting for the bus. What about you?
