Although Duocan is well known by almost all users of the different Amazon devices it never hurts to say that it is a powerful alternative operating system to the official one that we can find on Kindle devices, created by a group of Chinese developers.
The initial objective was to achieve a better adaptation of the Chinese characters on the device, but today it has become a powerful operating system that has gained many followers given the interesting features that it can bring to our Kindle.
What do I need to know before installing Duokan?
There are not too many things that I have to know or know about Duokan before installing it on our Amazon device:
- It does not replace the official system, nor does it require jailbreaking the device
- The process is fully reversible
- Once installed, it has a dual charger, in which you can choose to boot Duocan (pressing Q) or boot the official operating system from Kindle (pressing W or waiting a few seconds)
How do I install Duokan on my Kindle?
- We can download the Duokan version from the official page of the operating system
- We unzip the downloaded files
- We connect our Kindle to USB
- Now we must copy the folders SK_Documents, DK_Pictures, and DK_System in the root folder of the Kindle
- From the folder 升级 carpeta we must also copy the .bin file corresponding to our Kindle version in the root. It is very important to be sure of your Kindle versionIn case you are not sure, you can look at the list that we offer below:

If you are still not sure of the version of your Kindle, you should access Menu / Settings and at the bottom, in the Serial Number section, the first part of the serial-code that we see will give us the reference to know the version that we have without any place to doubts.
- Once we finish making the copy, we disconnect our Kindle in a safe way
- As a recommendation on the official page it is specified that Duokan installation should only be done if we have more than 50% battery b. We strongly recommend that you do not carry out this process if you do not have at least that percentage of battery
- Now we access Menu / Settings / Menu / Update Your Kindle. If this last option appears in a grayish color, it means that we have done something wrong throughout the process.
- If we have carried out all the steps correctly, the system will update and restart several times until it shows us the dual charger that will allow us to start our Kindle through the Duokan operating system or through the official Amazon operating system
