Tutorial: How to backup your Kindle's book collections?

Kindle

With this simple tutorial that we bring you today, you can make as many backups as you want of all the book collections you store on your Kindle devices , saving you from more than one headache should any problem arise.

As we have seen in other articles on this blog, organizing Kindle collections can be a complicated and quite time-consuming process, so losing those collections can be a great disappointment, as well as a considerable loss of time.

For those of you who rely on your luck and repeat the familiar phrase, "That's never happened to me, and it never will," you should know that Kindle book collections can be lost for many different reasons, including firmware updates that we all tend to perform periodically, or, for example, the installation of important patches for our Amazon device . Stop believing you're untouchable and back up your Kindle by following these simple steps.

Steps to back up collections on any Kindle device:

  • Connect the Kindle device to our personal computer through the USB port
  • Wait while the Kindle device appears on the screen as if it were a memory stick
  • We open the device folder and open the folder named "System"
  • Inside this folder we will find a file called collections.json that we must copy and save in a safe place so that in the case of losing any of our collections we only have to copy it back to our Kindle to recover and leave everything as it was
collections.json

Note : The collections.json file may sometimes be hidden. If you don't see it when accessing the System folder, make sure all icons are visible, including hidden ones, so you can copy the file without further problems.

As a final recommendation, we can only say that it should be mandatory for everyone who owns a Kindle to make a backup following the steps we have just indicated because if you unfortunately lose your collections and do not have a backup of them, you will never be able to recover them, with the disappointment and loss of time that this will entail.
