"Martian Chronicles" is one of the great works of Ray Bradbury, which also has a great peculiarity, which is none other than that of a foreword written and signed by José Luis Borges. On November 11, that is, this week, the original copy of this prologue, handwritten by the popular Argentine writer, will go up for auction in London and will have a starting price of between 27.880 euros and 41.821 euros.
Despite the fact that this prologue, commissioned from Borges by Francisco Porrúa, editor and translator of the Spanish edition of Bradbury's work, is not an extensive and profound work, it is part of the history of literature, due to the famous assertion that the writer performed on it.
“Already the Renaissance observed, through the mouths of Giordano Bruno and Bacon, that the true ancients are us and not the men of Genesis or Homer… What has this man from Illinois done, I wonder, closing the pages of his book, so that episodes of the conquest of another planet fill me with terror and loneliness? "
Without a doubt this foreword signed by Jorge Luis Borges will have a huge number of buyers who will be willing to spend a huge amount of money to have in their collection this popular prologue to "Martian Chronicles".
Other important works of Spanish literature will also appear at the auction to be held in London, such as an edition of the first book published by Federico Garcia Lorca, entitled "Impressions and landscapes." One of the poet's first known letters to his friend Emilia Llanos will also be auctioned.
The auction as we already said will take place in London next Wednesday and now we only have to see what value these important works of literature will reach.
