La Casa del Libro will launch the new Tagus Magno 2016

Tagus the Great

Over the past few days, we've seen Casa del Libro launching new devices and updating popular models. But the most striking of all the eReaders, the Tagus Magno, appears to be getting an update this time, or rather, will be included in the 2016 Tagus catalog.

Currently, the Tagus Magno 2016 is listed , but the homepage displays the previous model, the Tagus Magno 2014, an eReader that's a bit outdated for its price of around €300. However, if we look at the La Casa del Libro website, we can see that the actual device, which would correspond to the Tagus Magno 2016, is quite different and has been updated for another year to remain the eReader with the largest screen on the market.

The Tagus Magno 2016 retains not only the appearance of the previous model but also the same software, recognizing the same formats. It also has the same storage capacity, but this can be expanded thanks to a microSD card slot.

The 2016 Tagus Magno will be faster than its predecessor

The main changes in the Tagus Magno 2016 are found in the processor, which has been replaced by a 1 GHz Freescale Cortex-A9 . The RAM has also been upgraded from 256 MB to 512 MB . These changes are undoubtedly positive for the model, but there are also some drawbacks, such as the inclusion of a 1.700 mAh battery, which I find somewhat small for the screen size. While it's not outrageously small, the new Tagus Magno 2016 will likely struggle to achieve more than 15 days of battery life.

The price remains a major drawback of this eReader ; at €299, it's rather expensive. The other features, as well as the resolution, remain the same as previous models, which is puzzling. They could have simply left the Tagus Magno as is and lowered the price, or completely redesigned it. Personally, I'm disappointed with this eReader because I was expecting a complete overhaul , not just a minor update. However, if you're looking for the Tagus Magno but faster, the Tagus Magno 2016 is the eReader for you. Anyone in the room?
