It seems that the stars and business owners have conspired so that every two days a new eReader with which to make our mouths water. A few hours ago we were talking about a device of Ukrainian origin for this market. Well, today the turn is for a German manufacturer that although its product is not more than a replica of another eReader his, things seem to get interesting. The new eReader is called Pyrus Maxi of the German company trektor.
What does Pyrus Maxi offer me that another eReader does not?
This is the question we all ask ourselves at this point and with so many devices on the market. Well, Pyrus Maxi It is focused on a very specific eReader market that has been forgotten: big screen eReaders. So far there are only two models with a large screen, since recently the two oldest have been withdrawn from the market. The two survivors, Tagus the Great and JetBook Color are very far from normal consumption, since their prices are between the 300 euros and the 500 euros, prices that make more than one reconsider if you want a eReader or a tablet. Pyrus Maxi It presents us with the possibility of obtaining a large screen eReader, about 8 โfor a very interesting price and in no way comes close to the prices of previous eReaders.

Opinion
As you may have read, the specifications of this eReader are nothing out of the ordinary. The screen used is Guangzhou OED Technologies, a company that tries to imitate the technology of E-ink without actually paying patents. Regarding autonomy, the product's website does not specify it well, but I imagine that it will approach the month of autonomy since the only major energy expenditure that Pyrus Maxi can do is use screen. It lacks a touch screen, audio and Wi-Fi. So using Caliber it is required on this eReader.
It seems that treektor It has not been able to combine this product well with its market, being a great pity, because the market for large screen eReaders is being the great forgotten and at the same time the great need since many people are still not convinced by the situation of expanding the font size.
The price of this device will be around the 149 euros and it won't be available until the middle of this month. What do you think of Pyrus Maxi and does it meet your expectations? Give your opinion on this eReader and on the big screens, it costs nothing.

I think 10.1 or very close to that measurement should be the ideal size for a full-size ereader. I have a Samsung galaxy 2 and it is perfect in size for reading PDF books and magazines, however it is not anywhere near as pleasant the experience as on a kindle paparwhite which is where I read almost everything. So, for me, a product like the kindle (even if it doesn't have a lot of extras) with a big screen is ideal. This one that you review, if it were at least 9.7 inches I would be interested, but 8 still seems small to me. Greetings.
Thanks for your input. I agree with you, but in some cases the market rules. I also like the large size but it is an increasingly limited market space. Although 8 โณ is small, it is relatively large compared to the 6 โณ offered by all. If you let me give you some advice, a few days ago I talked about how to extend the battery of these devices, look at it and still find some way that allows you to read better on the tablet. Greetings.
Hi Joaquin. I was waiting like rain in May for an 8 โณ ereader. A 6 โณ is too small. It's like reading a newspaper column. It takes very little time to read a page and you have to continually advance. It is much more like a classic 8 โณ size book. I actually had an 8 โณ iliad book edition in my hands but it was too expensive. This new TrekStore looks good. It will not be the last word of quality, but if it does not crash and if it does not take too long to turn the page, I am seriously thinking about buying it. What do you think?
Hello Aingeru, first of all, thanks for reading us. Then tell you that the news is relatively old, let me explain, a few days after this news, Kindle launched an offer of its old Kindle DX, a 9,7 โณ eReader, it is a bit expensive but you have better support both at the level of ebooks as the space in the cloud that gives you. Then you have another expensive option which is the Magno and this option. If you are not urgent, I recommend that you visit our forum and express your doubts, there you will find people who have these eReaders and can guide you more easily. Greetings and I hope I have been helpful, if not you know, ask.
Hello, I was thinking of buying this ebook for the 8 inches and the price but I would like to know why you say that the use of Caliber is mandatory in this ebook. Thank you!
Hello, I bought it recently and I am delighted. And the use of Caliber is not necessary. Caliber is needed like in any other ereader, if you want to change the format of an ebook.
It looks too much like the 8 inch inves wibook. If it is the same, to read well, but for things like comics forget it, the screen has a terrifying ghosting.
I think just the opposite, it is almost perfect.
The size could be a bit bigger, but the absence of things that I don't use like Wi-Fi, touch or whatever are superfluous if you want to read. Obviously the screen quality is not that of kidle, but that is why it costs less than half.
Unbeatable price-performance ratio, in fact, there is a break in product stocks.
Very successful article .. come on man .. it is sold out everywhere and says they have screwed up on the size and design.
The yokel will not sentence this.
Hello:
I've been with an 8 โณ TrekStor for a year. Before I had a 7 โณ Energy TFT. I am quite happy, I can read for hours without getting tired, loading books from my computer is within the reach of a child and its use in general is very comfortable. On a 6 hour full charge, I can read 3-4 books. Indeed it does not have WIFI, but for that the tablets, nor can you listen to music, but for that the MP3 / 4/5. It doesn't weigh much. Anyway, the 3 b's.
Highly recommended.
Good reading.
Hey.
This "publisher" and many others do not know anything ... many of us who like to read cannot support a 6-inch mini screen both because of its size (smaller than a paperback book) and because we have to continually turn the page.
Nor do we support tactile picks, or useless resolutions, or the latest marquitis products extolled by the sheep masses, even with multiple defects.
It is indeed difficult to find this model.
Greetings.
Hello everybody. Of course, since I published this post until today, it has rained a lot, so much so that the life of the eReader has already ended or at least that is what the manufacturer's website indicates. For those who do not understand my criticism, trust that the first price is 149 euros. From here my criticisms are due to the fact that an eReader that is worth like the last Kindle and instead does not have the same quality as the worst kindle, no matter how big the screen has, it is not worth it. Now, throughout its commercial life, this eReader may have had several reductions in its price and that the stock to which you allude has been sold for 50 euros or for less, in those cases, of course I am with you, they are reasonable prices for this eReader, but not 149 euros.
Regarding Caliber, I think that the most basic function of Caliber that we all know is the format converter, however it has many features that greatly enhances any eReader, now, I think that the more autonomous the eReader is, the less we need to use Caliber and vice versa, that is, in an eReader that does not have Wi-Fi, or its own store, or cloud service, or audio, or a program to synchronize, we will need Caliber even though at certain times we will not be able to use it.
Finally, for those who start their comments with insults or offensive attempts, note that there are people who did not agree with my opinion and have not insulted, I have also made comments (including this one) in which I have not insulted, PLEASE, DO NOT INSULT !!!!
