Interestingly, while yesterday we saw the Tagus Magno 2016 appear at Casa del Libro, today we see images of a new eReader from the same manufacturer, Onyx Boox, whose screen has 13 inches.
We already met this Onyx Boox eReader, however we had no image or proof that it worked and was reality. Today through the MobileRead Forum, Onyx has presented images of the 13-inch eReader with some details of its launch and physical characteristics.
The new 13-inch eReader from Onyx Boox will have a resolution of 2.200 x 1.650 pixels, resulting in 207 ppi . This resolution is superior to its competitor, the Sony DPT-S1, which has a resolution of 1.600 x 1.200 and 150 ppi. This 13-inch eReader, whose name is still unknown, will go on sale in spring 2016 , possibly at the end of April. We don't know anything about the price , an important piece of information we're missing, but we do know that it will run Android, so the problem with the Sony DPT-S1 won't appear in the Onyx Boox eReader, as it will work without issue.
It's clear that this new eReader from Onyx Boox won't feature the latest e-ink screen technology, but the image quality and usability will still be quite good. Furthermore, Onyx Boox has stated that this model will use a stylus, not a touchscreen like previous models. This makes sense, as they're targeting the business market where a stylus is still an essential requirement.
As I said, the price of this device is currently the most important point, after confirming its existence, something that many would have preferred to know about the resolution of the screen or if it has Android or not. Let's hope that this time the model is not delayed and arrives on schedule, many will be waiting for it.
