Augmented reality is a concept that almost everyone knows, but that we can hardly define precisely, because although we have all heard of it at some point, it has not managed to establish itself as something widely used today, despite the numerous attempts of many companies.
This concept could be defined as viewing a different reality through a mobile device or tablet, one to which data or images have been added, for example. In other words, augmented reality is simply a part of reality with more information. This is the type of reality that Magic Book aims to apply to books, giving them a new dimension.
As we can see in the video at the top of this article, augmented reality applied to books, in the traditional paper format, would allow the youngest members of the household to see drawings, animated characters, or any type of information that could help them better understand the book they are reading.
At the moment Magic Book is just a project about which we have been able to know very little data, but which could very soon be a reality with its arrival on the market. As you can see, until now it is only possible to enjoy augmented reality in a couple of pages of a book, so we could say that there is still a long way to go for the culmination of this idea.
Opinion freely
Although we don't have much information about this project, I've taken the liberty of offering my opinion. I think augmented reality could be a very interesting concept , for example, for exploring a city by adding real-time information to maps, but perhaps it's not necessary for books.
Giving a child a smartphone to use while reading may not be a good strategic move. Most children may read a page of the book and see augmented reality a couple of times, but I am very afraid that they will end up playing whatever game they have installed with their mobile, leaving aside the book, no matter how much it has been dubbed the Magic Book.
Books are books and with pictures and various additions, I think that augmented reality is superfluous, at least in these cases.
