In recent days, several users have reported a new update for Kobo's latest eReaders. This update, version 4.0.7 , appears to be available only for the new Kobo eReaders, or at least it seems that older Kobo devices will not receive it.
The new Kobo firmware addresses important aspects of the eReader, such as the connection to OverDrive , but also other aspects like the device's connection to other services and their management by both the device and the user. Furthermore, dictionaries that were removed in previous versions, such as the French dictionary, are back.
Many users who have tried or seen this update have stated that it focuses on Overdrive so in the case of Spain, this update does not represent a great advance, but there is more.
The new update will improve Overdrive and also the connection with Windows 10
The Kobo Aura One and Kobo Aura Edition 2 are two devices that don't work well with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update and continue to have connectivity issues. This new update might be the one the Kobo team promised to fix these problems. If so, we can deduce that the connection with Overdrive is the problem preventing Windows 10 from reading and syncing ebooks with the eReader.
In any case, Kobo eReader updates continue, and we get at least one update per device, which keeps our old eReaders from becoming obsolete or forgotten—at least the more popular Kobo devices. It also seems that Kobo will focus on offering Overdrive to users . It's a shame this library lending service isn't yet available in Spain, as Kobo and Overdrive users seem to be enjoying the eReader quite a bit.
