The premium eReaders currently on the market all share the same drawback: they are very expensive . But despite this, all reports indicate that these devices are selling out fast, both on store shelves and in retail outlets. This is surprising even their creators, as they don't have as much stock as they anticipated.
In the case of the Kindle Oasis, the eReader is being gradually replaced, but replaced nonetheless; however, the same cannot be said for the Kobo Aura One.
According to several sources, the Kobo Aura One won't be back on store shelves until 2017 , something many are lamenting simply because there isn't a premium eReader with that type of screen. However, there are other equally good alternatives. The most popular of these is the Kobo H2O , an eReader with a 7-inch screen that, although not sold directly in many stores, can be found in some online retailers and on sites like eBay for a very reasonable and attractive price.
Another option is to choose a large-screen model like the Onyx Boox Max, an eReader with a screen larger than 13 inches . However, this device is more expensive than usual. If screen size isn't a concern, the Kobo Aura Edition 2 and the Kobo Glo HD are two great options for those who don't want Amazon products or can't afford them.
In any case, we'll probably see some Kobo Aura One units this Christmas , although it's true that we probably won't see a large stock of this eReader until 2017. But will there really be demand when the Kobo Aura One arrives? What do you think?
