Kindle in Motion, movement reaches eReaders

Early e-ink display technologies were not only terrible for moving images or videos, but they also offered poor resolution, something that is gradually being corrected and is now largely outdated. But what about motion?

GIFs can be played on some eReader models , and we can even say that animations exist, but videos don't seem to play well yet. Amazon has managed to embed movement in its ebooks and have it play on eReaders, which is interesting because it's just the beginning for videos to be used on eReaders.

We can't yet test this Amazon technology called Kindle In Motion , but we do know that there are ebooks that have this technology and we will soon be able to run it through a software update that Amazon will roll out.

Interestingly, Kindle In Motion is included in romance ebooks and some horror ebooks , which is somewhat surprising since I'm not sure how effective moving images are in romance or horror ebooks. This might be due to the authors' choices, and the genres may change, expanding the use of Kindle In Motion. In any case, the development of moving images seems like a positive development, especially for videos , which many users still consider a key factor when choosing between a tablet and an eReader.

Personally, I think the latest technologies have greatly helped bring videos to eReaders, and Regal might actually succeed in getting its eReader to play videos, but will users like it? Will Kindle in Motion become a popular Amazon feature?
