A judge forces Amazon to return the money of the apps that children buy

This is a well-known issue for many, especially parents. App and video game stores are very easy for children to navigate, which can lead to them buying and spending money from our accounts on apps we don't want. Apple and Google have already faced lawsuits over this , and US courts have forced them to implement stricter measures and issue refunds.

In this case, the judge has ordered Amazon to refund the money for apps purchased by children without parental consent, but unlike other trials, Amazon will not be required to pay the compensation demanded for damages.

The ruling is atypical, to say the least, since the compensation sought was over $26 million, far below what was requested from Apple and Google, but the judge considered it unjustified . He also demanded that Amazon refund the money for the apps in cash, not gift cards or Amazon credit, which is logical.

The judge has imposed a change in the purchase so as not to have to return the money for the apps in the future

But all of this also affects the rest of you, in this case in a positive way. The judge has also ordered Amazon to change its purchasing process , making it more difficult for children to buy products without parental permission. This means that the Amazon store will change drastically, especially on its tablets.

Personally, I think it's a great measure, a common-sense measure. Since this measure solves the problem without creating or enriching anyone else, neither Amazon will keep the money through credit cards nor will users get rich from million-dollar settlements. But what do you think?
