New York's free access will not allow us to read web pages

Months ago New York City decided swap old phone booths for Wifi hotspots that would allow access to the Internet for free.

These points have been a success but such has been its success that the city council has been forced to suspend web browsing both in the cabins and through the web connection. So we can download things or use certain applications but We will not be able to read the web pages of the browser.

The problem and reason for this change is due to the indiscriminate abuse that has been done to these internet booths. The situation has reached the point where many homeless and homeless people were arriving to create crowds around the booths to see porn sites or as drug exchange points.

The prohibition of reading web pages through this connection is due to visits to pornographic pages

All these situations have been documented on Facebook and although the citizens have not claimed anything, those in charge of the service have decided to restrict web browsing through the service. Many have reproached this action, being able to insert antipornographic filters, but the truth is that the application of these filters would only affect the booths, and pornography could be viewed through other devices.

At the moment the restriction is fixed and the users they will not be able to surf the internet or read web pages, but that does not make we cannot download the ebooks that we have bought in our ebookstore or simply documents that we have on our cloud hard drive or directly go from reading and using the apps of our favorite social networks.

Personally, I think the decision is correct because the Internet is more than just visiting pornographic sites, but it is also something New Yorkers should protect since not all cities can offer this service and give free access to the Internet, something that for many is already a Universal Right. But Will they really be able to keep this service safe from the abuse that is taking place?
