eStories, a new service for… Audiobooks

eStories

Audiobooks are all the rage, at least in the United States. During the last months the use of these peculiar readings has grown considerably, to the point that the format has been equated with the ebook or the book. That is why many companies are developing services that work with this editorial format.

One of these companies is eMusic, a company that has launched the eStories service. eStories is a streaming content service, to be more exact, audiobooks via streaming. It works like ebook flat rates, but only uses audiobooks, although it won't be a small amount. In this regard, eStories has a catalog of 80.000 audiobooks, a catalog that comes from Findaway.

eStories is certainly a tough competitor to Audible, Amazon's audiobook service. In this regard, eStories has an extensive catalog and a rate of $ 11,99, a slightly higher rate than Audible Unlimited, but in exchange offers titles from major publishers as well as a larger platform, that is, it has apps for iOS and Android as well as a web platform where they can consult and listen to these audiobooks.

Still I think both eStories and Audible have a tough competitor: podcasts. The podcast format is completely released and in addition to containing audiobooks, it is also true that it offers other content and more content than audiobooks, so the competition is tough, at least for those who use audiobooks. Mainly they are people who cannot concentrate on reading an ebook or a book and for these, they only look for unlimited content, be it ebooks or podcasts.

In any case, the audiobook is something that has not yet reached Spain, well the success and passion for the audiobook. A passion that will take time to arrive but I think will finally reach the Spanish market, now well Will eStories be there?
