eReaders have offered many readers the possibility of enjoying eBooks in a simple and convenient way. However, these devices cannot be used by everyone, so a program run by the Santander International Entrepreneurship Center to encourage technological entrepreneurship, led by Carlos Madolell, has developed a device that transforms digital documents into different formats, including Braille.
BaraiBook is the name of this device that will allow anyone, even the blind, to access digital books without any problems or inconveniences.
As we can see in the video at the top of this article, this is a very small gadget that can fit in any pocket . On the specially designed small screen, any blind person can read by placing their finger on the textured surface. The text will then be displayed in Braille, making it easy to read, even without sight.
Like any eReader, we can navigate through the different books stored on the device using buttons located on the left side. The biggest drawback of the BraiBook is its battery life of only 3 hours , although it can be recharged using solar power, a feature many of us hope to see in the next Amazon or Kobo device.
At the moment the BraiBook is not sold in the market, although it is expected that it may be available later this year with a price that could be between 79 and 99 euros.
