The last few days have been surprising for many book lovers and those in the publishing world, for many who not only expected Murakami to win a major award but also did not expect the winner to be a musician, even if it is a musician of the stature of Bob Dylan.
But in the end, this fact has not been as negative as it seems, but rather positive, as it is causing more musicians to deserve or reach literary awards for their books or song lyrics.
A few hours ago I received a petition on my Twitter account via Change.org to nominate Yosi DomÃnguez for the 2017 Prince of Asturias Award for Literature . This petition follows the trend set by Bob Dylan's award and would certainly be noteworthy, even though Dylan was the first musician to receive this type of award.

Yosi DomÃnguez was the composer for the band Los Suaves , as well as a member of this great Spanish musical group. His lyrics have entertained everyone from children to adults, including fans of many musical genres. Hence his importance and the strength of this nomination for the Prince of Asturias Awards.
Personally, I believe that many song lyrics are true works of art, not only Yosi's but also those of other musicians and composers. However, it also strikes me as odd that an award like the Nobel Prize or the Prince of Asturias Award for Literature is given to musicians. The most logical thing would be to give these people musical awards rather than literary ones, although, as the great artists they are, they still deserve the awards and recognition from everyone, don't you think?
