It's been a few days since the Swedish Academy unexpectedly awarded Bob Dylan the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature , but it wasn't until this past weekend that the renowned American singer finally made an appearance. Since receiving the Nobel Prize, he hadn't uttered a word, either publicly or privately.
In Dylan's words to Sara Danius, "the news about the Nobel Prize left me speechless" and it is also an "honor" for me to receive this award that has been given to great writers of universal literature.
"What if I accept the award? Of course"
These were the words of the singer when asked by Danius if he accepted the Nobel Prize, something that many had questioned in recent days before the silence of Bob Dylan. Another thing that will be that he goes to collect the Award, something that for example he did not do with the Prince of Asturias Award, leaving everyone present wanting to see the popular singer.
For now, we 'll have to wait to find out if Dylan will accept the award and allow us to enjoy his presence at what promises to be a very interesting 2016 Nobel Prize ceremony. Furthermore, it goes without saying that this will be the first time a singer, and not a writer, has received the Nobel Prize in Literature, something that could mark a turning point for this and many other awards.
