Barnes & Noble fires CEO Ron Boire

Rum Bouire

Less than a year ago, we learned of a drastic change in the management of the Barnes & Noble bookstore, something that foreshadowed new expectations for the company, as Ron Boire, the new CEO of Barnes & Noble, allowed for major changes.

However, Barnes & Noble has not kept its promises (yet another thing), and Ron Boire will not be taking over as CEO, as he has been dismissed from the company, as recently announced. Ron Boire was the CEO of Barnes & Noble, a position he shared with Leonard Riggio until his retirement on September 14.

Barnes & Noble will continue with its projects despite the dismissal of Ron Boire

Apparently, Ron Boire's new initiatives are not well-received by Barnes & Noble shareholders , and therefore the decision has been made to keep Leonard Riggio at the helm and have Boire leave the company. However, in the announcement, Barnes & Noble also confirmed the continuation of the previously announced projects , meaning they will continue with the store renovations and the sale of products beyond books and ebooks.

Nothing has been said about the Nook department and its future, but something tells me that this issue has influenced this change of direction, or at least that's what it seems after the mysterious mention, a mention that was made before this news broke. In any case, it doesn't seem to be good news for the company and its users. Once again, Barnes & Noble is in the spotlight for controversy, not for the launch of an eReader or an ebook program. I know the company wants to change course, but once again, this isn't a good start, although it could open the door to a great project. What do you think?
