Amazon Polly, the voice that will accompany us in our readings

Kindle Basic

This week, Amazon announced new software features. These include a new text-to-speech (TTS) program called Amazon Polly . TTS software is a program that reads aloud the text you input or the text from running applications. It's an important component of virtual assistants like Alexa, but also of ebook features such as audiobook playback.

Amazon Polly will be a new program that will replace the one provided by Ivona and that improves not only the text processing but also the options that the user will have to use this software.

Amazon Polly will be the new TTS software for Amazon reading devices

From what we know, the new Amazon Polly software will have two voices (one male and one female) that can read in 24 languages and will have up to 47 different voice timbres that the user or developer can use. This is interesting for the user, but in addition, Amazon Polly will be able to read an ebook like " The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn " in a matter of minutes and listen to it like an audiobook.

However, for the time being, Amazon Polly will be software intended for developers, which users will be able to find on AWS . In other words, Amazon will release Amazon Polly as an API that any Amazon Web Services user can use, and a scaled-down version that anyone can use, similar to how Alexa is currently used . The price of this software will be based on transcribed characters, so a simple text could cost very little and be extremely helpful.

In any case, it will be a tool that will soon be on our tablets and eReaders, not forgetting our mobile phones, which will surely have more than one application, not only for audiobooks but also for news readers or other similar apps that Amazon Polly will bring to our devices.
