The supermarket chain Aldi is moving forward with its plans to enter the ebook market. It has recently announced the opening of its next ebook store in Germany.
Thus, Aldi intends to enter the German market , a fairly active market currently controlled by Tolino and Amazon. And unlike other companies, Aldi seems poised to become a major rival for these companies, or at least that's how it appears.
The new ebookstore will be called Aldi Life, an online bookstore that will feature all German publishers, or so it claims, and this will mean having an ebook catalog equal to or larger than the current catalogs of Tolino or Amazon . This has surprised many.

But it's worth remembering that Aldi already offers something similar in the music sector: a music service created with the help of the old Napster , which aims to compete with Spotify. This service is gaining popularity in Germany and seems poised to be the perfect complement for avid readers.
It has also been announced that an app for Android and iOS will soon be launched, in which users will not only be able to buy ebooks but also read the ebooks they have purchased, like other apps, something that will be interesting for many who use these services.
So it seems Aldi is entering the European ebook market with a somewhat fragile platform, as it doesn't yet have an app or an eReader, but it does have a powerful ebook platform, something that has certainly caught the attention of many.
