This movement was heavily criticized, but it is currently thriving. This is evidenced by the recent launch of its 50.000th library.
Little Free Library is talking to publishers and curators to fill their positions with new books
The latest stall in this movement, which operates as a bookstore, has been set up next to a homeless shelter. Meanwhile, the head of the Little Free Bookstore movement's Foundation reaffirmed its project, stating that they not only have 50.000 stalls but also work with publishers to stock them with books ; they have curators and agents who review and maintain these stalls and their books; and they collaborate with non-profit organizations to further promote the movement.
The truth is, if Pequeña LibrerÃa LibrerÃa has truly overcome the acts of vandalism it suffered, that's good news, and if several organizations are working with them, even better. Something like this should happen in other countries, such as Spain, where this movement could be interesting, or at least important, for many people who have to resort to methods like piracy to obtain certain books or a good read.
Unfortunately, nothing has been said about the movement leaving the country; perhaps for many, that's the only bad thing about the whole news story or the movement, don't you think?
