Spanish dictionary

The latest edition of the Dictionary of the Spanish Language, published by the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), has been available in bookstores across the country for several months, and has also recently become available for consultation on the institution's official website. Although we have had to wait much longer for the digital edition than for the print version, this will be the last time this happens, as no more dictionaries will be published in paper format.

This measure was announced by the president of the RAE, Darío Villanueva at the presentation of the Online Dictionary, declaring to the media present that the next editions will be born with a purely digital vocation.

The Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) Dictionary is finally available through the RAE website thanks to a sponsor, a sponsorship long sought by its president. Ultimately, the La Caixa Foundation is the sponsor, whose annual contribution of one million euros has made the dictionary available online for any user.

"The Dictionary is more alive than ever thanks to digital." With it, the use of the language is encouraged in all corners of the country. The power of words is knowing how to use them "

These words bear the signature of Isidro Fainé , president of La Caixa and of the foundation that has provided the necessary funds to make the Dictionary accessible to any user online.
