It is not being a good year 2016 and yesterday a new one was added death of one of the great stars of music and poetry such as Leonard Cohem who left us at 82 years of age as reported through his official profile on the social network Facebook, where we could read the following message; "We have lost one of the most revered and prolific visionaries in music."
Cohen was one of the best known musicians in the world and he remained active until almost the end of his life. And it is that last October of this year the Canadian singer-songwriter presented his latest album entitled You Want It Darker.
He discovered poetry in his youth thanks to the work of the Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca. He published several of his books and poems that led to his first album in the world of music entitled "Songs of Leonard Cohen". It was considered one of his great masterpieces thanks among other songs to "So Long, Marianne" or "Suzanne".
Since then Cohen was considered a star, not only within music, but on a general level and he received a multitude of awards during his lifetime, including the Prince of Asturias Award for Letters, with which he was awarded in 2011.
Today we have to say goodbye once again to one of the great institutions within the world of poetry and music, and also to one of the voices that most often accompanied us on the long trips or on those nights where with a book and the Cohen's voice one could forget the passage of time.
