The eReader market continues to evolve rapidly, offering increasingly versatile devices with features tailored to demanding users. Within this context comes the BOOX Go 6 , an e-ink reader that combines the best of modern technology with the simplicity and convenience that reading enthusiasts seek. This new eReader has already captured the attention of many with its compact design, advanced screen, and versatile functionalities.
In this in-depth review, we are going to break down all the specifications, features, and aspects that make the BOOX Go 6 a standout device. If you are considering purchasing an e-reader that is not only efficient but also offers significant improvements in screen quality and user experience, this article will be your ultimate guide.
Lightweight and portable design
The BOOX Go 6 is synonymous with portability. At just 6,8 mm thick and weighing only 160 grams , this device is lighter than most current smartphones. This makes it the ideal companion for those who are constantly on the go and looking for an easy-to-carry e-reader, whether in a pocket, bag, or backpack.
The design is geared toward functionality, offering a compact body that's comfortable even for extended reading sessions. Its build doesn't include physical buttons for turning pages, but its touchscreen is responsive enough, albeit with a slight lag that's natural to e-ink technology.
Carta 1300 display: A superior reading experience
The BOOX Go 6 features a Carta 1300 e-ink display , considered one of the most advanced technologies in this type of device. This monochrome screen offers deeper blacks, brighter whites , and impressive sharpness, with a resolution of 300 dpi that ensures clear and defined text.
The reading experience on this device is similar to that of traditional paper, reducing eye strain even after hours of use. Furthermore, glare is minimal, allowing for comfortable reading both indoors and outdoors. Despite its compact 6-inch size , the screen strikes a perfect balance between portability and reading comfort.
One interesting feature is the ability to adjust the brightness and color temperature , offering options ranging from white light to warmer tones for nighttime reading. However, it lacks automatic scheduling for these settings, which could have further enhanced the experience.
Hardware and performance
Beneath its sleek design, the BOOX Go 6 is equipped with an octa-core processor , a significant upgrade from similar models. This hardware allows for smooth operation of applications and functions, although some users have reported slight delays when navigating the interface or opening demanding applications.
The device has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage , expandable via microSD cards. While the RAM may seem limited to users accustomed to more powerful devices, it is sufficient for basic tasks such as reading and light browsing.
Android operating system and customizable applications
The BOOX Go 6 stands out for being based on Android 11 , which allows users to download apps from the Google Play Store . This opens up a wide range of possibilities, from installing e-readers like Kindle to music apps like Spotify.
Among the included native applications is NeoReader , a reader that supports more than 20 formats, such as EPUB, PDF, and MOBI. It also offers advanced tools like text adjustments, highlighting, and annotations, ideal for those looking to personalize their reading experience.
Long duration battery
Another of the BOOX Go 6's strengths is its battery, which, thanks to its 1.500 mAh capacity and the efficiency of eInk technology, allows for several days of use on a single charge. It's a device that prioritizes durability, making it ideal for those planning to take it on extended trips.
Price and Availability
The BOOX Go 6 is now available in Spain for €169,99 . This price includes advanced features such as access to the Play Store, compatibility with multiple formats, and a high-quality screen, making it a competitive option in its price range.
Compared to models like the Kindle Paperwhite or the Kobo Nia, the BOOX Go 6 offers the advantage of the Android system, although its more limited hardware could be a point to consider for more advanced users.
The BOOX Go 6 is presented as a compact, functional e-reader with features that make a significant difference. Its Carta 1300 screen and lightweight design make it a device designed for those seeking comfort without sacrificing quality. While it has areas for improvement, such as its limited RAM and lack of physical buttons, its versatility and affordable price make it a very attractive investment for digital reading enthusiasts.
