Nobody misses the enormous success that the trilogy has had worldwide Fifty Shades of Grey, signed by EL James, is now also sweeping the cinemas around the world with the second installment in the form of a film. Fifty shades darker is the new film that stars Christian Gray and Anastasia Steele.
I have never hidden that I have read the 4 books that we have had to date with Gray as the protagonist, although it is without a doubt my favorite reading. Also yesterday I went to the cinema, so I accompanied my wife, to see Fifty shades darker, taking advantage to find the 10 differences between the book and the movie that anyone can discover without too much effort.
A totally different start
The first difference between the movie and the book is found as soon as it starts. Fifty shades darker and is that it starts off in a totally different way than we could all expect, based on what we read.
The film begins with Ana going to her friend's photographic exhibition, where she is the main protagonist and where she meets Christian Gray. In the book, it was the millionaire who invited her to attend the exhibition and took her first by car and then by helicopter. In addition, the kiss that occurs in an alley just when leaving the exhibition is quite missing.
Dr. Flynn, the great absentee
The great absentee from the film is undoubtedly the doctor Flynn, Christian Grey's psychiatrist. In the book he has a leading role, being the one who solves many of Ana's doubts and also goes to the masked ball where he dances with her while everyone watches them. In the feature film this character does not appear at any time, something that is totally inexplicable.
There is no first charity auction
We all know that movies cannot last for hours and that in many cases they do not accurately reflect what happens in books. En Fifty shades darker this is something that clearly happens and is that for example there is no first charity auctionInstead, all the action is concentrated in a single auction.
We miss in the movie the first meeting between Elena and Anastasia or the ridiculous amount of money that Gray pays to dance with his great love. In addition, we cannot see complete the blackmail of Mrs. Robinson to Ana that if we can read in great detail in the book.
Kate's brother
Ethan, Kate's brother, who is Ana's roommate and friend, does not play a leading role in the film and in the book, where he is involved, for example, in the story between Anastasia and Leila, Grey's former submissive .
With the fleeting passage through the film of this character, we have to miss Christian's anger with Ana because she has drunk too much.
Kate never gets to know the contract between Ana and Gray
In the book we can read a passage in which Kate, Ana's friendFinds some emails in which the characters in this plot negotiated the terms of the contract for which she would be Grey's submissive. In the movie we never get to see this and therefore we also don't see Anastasia's explanations to her friend about the emails in which the famous contract is discussed.
Jack Hyde appears at the charity auction
The revenge that begins Jack hyde, the one who was Ana's boss, appears earlier in the movie than in the book and we can see him at the masked ball observing a photograph of Grey's family of which he takes a copy that later reappears when they celebrate the birthday of the young millionaire.
The proposal to live together
One of the things that most caught my attention in the film was the way in which Christian Gray asks Anastasia to go live with him. It happens in the middle of the night and right after a nightmare. The protagonist asks the morning after if he is serious or has it just been a dream.
In the book the proposal arrives with the two characters awake, just after explaining the story of Leila. The answer to the proposition is identical in both the movie and the book and is given with a keychain with light.
Elena's presence
The presence of Elena In Christian Grey's living room he does not have an explanation that we can all see or understand, while in the book he comes because a technician called to tell him that he was sick and would not go to work. The explanation is not missing when one is watching the movie, but there is still a doubt in the air for many of us who go to the cinema looking to find a book told in detail.
Sawyer's absence
Swayer for whom it does not sound familiar is the bodyguard that Gray hires to watch over and protect Ana. In the film he does not appear at any time and that in the book he comments on several things with Anastasia and also gives Gray a letter that Elena has written to his young girlfriend.
Much less sex
It already happened in the first installment on the big screen and in this second the difference is repeated with the books that you see much less sex, although this does not lack a large amount.
The absence of several specific scenes that we enjoy in the book is striking, for example the one in which they eat vanilla ice cream, but if all the sex in the book were to appear in the film, it would last several hours or even several days.
What else differences have you found between the film Fifty shades darker and the book?. Tell us in the space reserved for comments on this post or through one of the social networks in which we are present.
"If all sex came out the movie would last several hours or even several days" hahahaha. Very good ๐
