Yesterday, a rather intriguing rumor surfaced suggesting that Apple might integrate an E-ink display directly beneath the keyboard in upcoming MacBooks. This is a very interesting innovation that, if it materializes, could be a key selling point for the next MacBooks, especially since there are also rumors of an imminent launch.
This remains more of a wish than anything else, since at the moment there is no image of a current product that gives more credence to the rumor actually becoming a reality.
From what we know, Apple is preparing for a press event later this month where it will unveil the new line of MacBook Pros. The updated laptops will feature an OLED touchpad above the keyboard that changes depending on the app the user is using.
It has now been revealed that a similar system could be implemented in Apple's keyboard. A Chinese user working at Tsinghua University (the Chinese equivalent of MIT) claims to have seen such a keyboard at a closed-door event on campus. The event was organized by Foxconn, Apple's hardware supplier.
Australian startup Sonder was present at the event and showcased the prototype of the next generation Apple Magic Keyboard, which features an E-Ink panel on each key . This would allow users to personalize the keyboard with different languages, images, and shortcuts.
We remind you that this is a possible rumor and there are no images to corroborate this information, so we will have to wait to see these E-ink panels in an Apple keyboard.
The video shows the prototype , but it's very different from what a finished Apple product would be.
