Amazon lowers the price of the Kindle Paperwhite in the United States, what's new in sight?

 Amazon

The Kindle family of e-readers currently consists of the Kindle Voyage, the Kindle Paperwhite, and the basic Kindle. This family is reduced to just two members in most countries due to the delayed launch of the Voyage in most regions. It didn't seem like Amazon would be releasing any new devices soon , but today we came across news that could signal an announcement of new products in the coming weeks.

Amazon has reduced the price of the Kindle Paperwhite by $20 in the United States , though the offer is only valid today. These kinds of price cuts are not very common for Jeff Bezos's company and are usually implemented when they want to clear out excess stock of certain devices.

I honestly see it difficult for Amazon to present a new eReader in the near future, pending the launch in many countries of the Kindle Voyage, but without a doubt this price reduction, even if only for one day, of the Kindle Paeprwhite, sounds strange to say the least.

It would seem logical for Amazon to officially launch the new Kindle Voyage in countries where it's not yet available, and then consider new devices. However, the market is moving at a significant pace , and while the Paperwhite is a great device, Kobo and many others are doing their job very well, and the large online store could be facing a threat.

As I was already saying, I think we will not see a new Amazon eReader immediately, but this reduction in the price of the Kindle Paperwhite could be the sign that in the coming months (not too many) we could see news in the form of a new Kindle that allow them to remain the true kings of the market.

Do you think Amazon is preparing to launch a new Kindle device?

Note : Do not attempt to purchase the Kindle Paperwhite through Amazon's US website to take advantage of the $20 discount, as this discount only applies to shipments to the United States.
